How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Dr Murthy is a movie buff, and car enthusiast, and is in search of the best cheeseburger. Get to know him by talking about movies, and cars or giving your favorite cheeseburger recommendation. Dr Murthy enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys traveling, going to live events, barbecuing all year long and trying new cuisines. Dr. Murthy was a collegiate tennis player at the University of Maryland and had a short stint on the professional tour. He still enjoys playing tennis, and other sports and staying active

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I choose the specialty of Pain Management because I am dedicated to restoring the quality of life of my patients. Pain management is an evolving field of medicine that incorporates clinical and innovative medicine. This field allows me to use my brain to diagnose a person’s pain and tailor an individual treatment plan. It also allows me to use my hands to perform the necessary interventional procedure that will execute the treatment plan and provide pain relief.
