About Reid L. Hopkins
Professional Statement
Dr. Hopkins is a general gastroenterologist and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) distinction from NYU School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Brown University followed by a fellowship in GI at Boston University. His areas of clinical interest include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns and Ulcerative colitis) and conditions such as acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease and colon cancer screening. He has a special interest in exploring patient-centered approaches to treatment using shared decision-making. He has done research in bowel preparation for colonoscopy and health maintenance in inflammatory bowel disease. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and cooking.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
A thoughtful, individual approach to diagnosis and treatment, as well as clear communication are most important.
How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I love spending time with my wife and two daughters, eating and hiking our way through NYC, Westchester and Fairfield.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose gastroenterology to help my patients through deeply personal and difficult to talk about symptoms.

Dr. Hopkins LISTENED to me and replied to my concerns. He did not push his opinions on me. He prescribed medicine he felt I needed without my feeling overruled and uninformed.
