Robert J. Carr, MD

Dr. Carr is a family physician with a board certification in geriatrics. He sees patients ages 18+ and has been practicing and teaching for more than 30 years. He is past-president of the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians, and has served on many national task forces and expert panels in the areas of geriatrics, primary care and medical education. Dr. Carr develops personal relationships with his patients and helps them understand how to prevent illness and achieve optimal health. He is an Army veteran, and enjoys tennis, boating and spending time with his family and granddaughter.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients should expect a collaborative relationship where we discuss their problems and questions and make the best decisions for their health and wellness.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
My family and I enjoy spending time swimming and boating on Candlewood Lake. I also enjoy golf, tennis and spending time with our adult children and granddaughter.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I have enjoyed caring for patients of all ages and providing comprehensive care to help patients maintain their health and effectively address any concerns.
