Romy Johnson-Pina, APRN

Romy Johnson-Pina has more than 20 years of experience working as a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare settings. This includes more than 15 years as a public health nurse and case manager. She received her BSN from Binghamton University, NY, MSN from Drexel University, and a post-master's certificate as an adult geriatric nurse practitioner. She is board-certified through the AANC (American Nursing Credentialing Center) as an adult geriatric nurse practitioner and is a certified case manager through the Commission for Case Managers. She is accepting patients starting at age 12 and above, via telehealth or in-person visits.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I listen well to my patients. I also take pride in teaching them and making sure they have a good understanding of their medical issues, treatments and factors that impact their health and diagnoses

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients can expect a comprehensive approach to their healthcare that encompasses their lifestyle, culture and resources to care. I would like for my patients to be honest about their health, lifestyles and barriers that may impact their care.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
My personal time is spent with my family, gardening and traveling.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Working in public health and case management, I truly missed working with patients on a clinical level. I realized that as an APRN, I can utilize both my clinical skills and experience, as well as an ability to take into account social determinants of care, barriers and access to community resources.
