Ruchira Chandra, MD

Dr. Chandra is a board-certified Geriatrician with a subspecialty in Palliative Medicine. She is a strong believer that older adults can live their best lives with comprehensive care that focuses on a healthy lifestyle and their individual goals. She is also passionate about teaching new physicians how to care for older adults in a compassionate manner that focuses on the patient as a whole. Dr. Chandra is fluent in Hindi and speaks Spanish at an intermediate level. In her spare time, she loves to practice yoga, play pickleball and travel with her family.

I will provide comprehensive care to older adults in a compassionate manner that will not be rushed.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Compassionate, individualized and thorough care that focuses on the whole person, not just one organ system. I also focus on the family/caregivers when needed.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I spend time with family and friends, especially doing yoga, playing pickleball or paddleboarding and love traveling the world.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I was especially drawn to older adults during my training as I could see that they did not always receive the specialized care they needed. There is a significant shortage of geriatricians in the world and I love being able to help one patient and family at a time.
