Dr. Russell Parvin received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York, and subsequently completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After finishing his general training in Medicine, he went on to complete a fellowship in hepatology at SUNY downstate Medical Center, and subsequently fellowship in gastroenterology/hepatology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Parvin has authored multiple research publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at regional and national scientific meetings, and has won multiple clinical and research awards.

Dr. Parvin is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/hepatology, and treats a broad array of gastrointestinal conditions, including GERD and other gastroesophageal diseases, hepatitis, cirrhosis, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and many others.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
My personal approach to healthcare is to provide care in a patient manner that allows patients to feel well informed and comfortable.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I always strive to be patient and caring and explain all facets of a patient's condition. I believe that being well-educated about a person's illnesses is an essential component of optimizing treatment.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
My personal hobbies include soccer and hiking and relaxing in front of a large body of water. I value spending time with family and friends.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I love being a gastroenterologist because it allows me to treat a large variety of conditions both procedurally and medically, as well as through counseling and education.
