Sara E. Church, CNM

Sara Church is a certified nurse-midwife practicing at Norwalk Hospital since 2009. Her aim is to partner with the women she serves to establish shared decision making and individualized care. She has a bachelors degrees in diagnostic genetics, as well as nursing, and obtained her masters in nurse-midwifery from Columbia University in 2008. Sara was born at Norwalk Hospital and also gave birth to her two sons there under the care of her midwifery colleagues. Outside of her time spent at the hospital, she spends most of her time chasing and cleaning up after her two energetic boys, but also enjoys reading, gardening (though her green thumb is lacking) and serves on several community and professional boards.

I will take the time to listen to your ideas and concerns and form a partnership with you.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I will ensure that you have the same informational foundation as I do, and your job is to utilize that information to make informed decisions.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I am very active in the PTA at my boys' schools. I enjoy reading historical fiction, walking by the water and kayaking. I have failed at my many attempts at handicrafts, but I continue to aspire.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Midwifery is "being with women." I feel so lucky to develop unique bonds with the families I serve as they go through intense and powerful physical and emotional experiences.
