Shanza Mahmood, MD

As a double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, I am deeply committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to my patients. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse patient populations, and I take pride in building strong, trusting relationships with each individual. I approach each patient as I would my family members, striving to not only help them achieve their health goals but also improve their overall quality of life.

Outside of medicine, I am a proud parent to three beautiful children, and I cherish the time I spend with my family. Whether it’s traveling to new places, learning about different cultures, or enjoying diverse cuisines, I love exploring the world around me. This sense of curiosity and appreciation for life helps me maintain a healthy work-life balance and reminds me of the importance of maintaining connections with those we love.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I have a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and I believe listening, understanding, and collaborating with patients are just as important as clinical expertise.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I prioritize clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring that each patient feels heard and supported in their journey toward better health. I hope patients will come to me openly with all their health concerns so that we can construct a good management plan together. I hope patients will come to me.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
The greatest value in my life is my family. I love spending quality time with them, sharing experiences together and building memories. 

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose Infectious Diseases because I like seeing patients improve. It is the most rewarding part of my job.
