Shawn Liechty, MD

Dr. Liechty is a board-certified general surgeon fellowship-trained in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. His specialty training includes advanced laparoscopic and robotic approaches for various metabolic and bariatric surgeries including adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en-y gastric bypass, one anastomosis gastric bypass, duodenal switch and revisional surgery for weight regain and complications. Additionally, Dr. Liechty has extensive training and interest in various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract including hernia, gallbladder disease and GERD. Dr. Liechty believes that patients should understand the options to manage their disease, so they can make an informed decision in their treatment plan. Through personal experiences in medicine and surgery, Dr. Liechty has developed a deep value for patient-centered care and listening. He has won numerous awards for teaching and research. Additionally, he was nominated by his peers for compassionate care and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which promotes humanity in medicine.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with my family in the great outdoors and exploring the beauty and history of New England

Bariatric and general surgery can change lives in predictable and powerful ways. I am honored to be part of that process.
