Sona Jasani, MD

Dr. Jasani is a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist who specializes in the care of in-patient obstetrics. She completed her undergraduate training from Rutgers University with a double major in Biological Sciences and Art History and went on to complete her medical school training at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with Distinction in Medical Education. She completed her ObGyn residency at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Jasani is passionate about providing the highest level of care while simultaneously nurturing patient relationships and is a member of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. Her specific areas of interest include retained placenta after vaginal delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, transdisciplinary approaches and medical informatics.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients should be able to expect partnership from their professional relationship with me. I am here to provide support, information and guidance so that we can work together with the rest of your health care team to confront whatever the situation may be.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending my free time prioritizing my relationships with family and friends. I especially enjoy cooking, hiking and being outdoors.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
My passion for ObGyn was inspired early on by my mother's infertility journey. Being able to support someone during most of their life changing moments is incredibly rewarding and I consider it a privilege to care for my patients.
