Stephen M. Burns, FNP

Stephen Burns is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in the practice of cardiology since 2002. He works in the inpatient environment at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Stephen finds that the best part of the job is the time spent getting to know the patients, not just about their illnesses but also about their life experiences. Stephen specializes in managing acute cardiac conditions including chest pain, heart attacks, heart failure and arrhythmias. A special interest for Stephen is working with the tobacco addicted patient to quit smoking. When not working, Stephen can be found spending family time or otherwise he's sure to be somewhere in the forest on one of many trails in the beautiful Hudson Valley.

You will have my complete attention, and I encourage you to tell me the best and worst of what you are dealing with. I'm here to help, not to judge.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
My family comes first, but my next love is riding my motorcycle on the mountain trails.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
My father died too young from a heart attack. Anyone that I can help to either prevent that or get through it is a win.
