About Steven M Berman
Professional Statement
Steven Berman, MD, has cared for patients as a urologist since 1986, bringing nearly four decades of experience, compassion, and sound clinical judgment to his practice.
Dr. Berman earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate-Brooklyn in 1981, then completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center. Board certified by the American Board of Urology and an active member of the American Urological Association, he treats a broad range of urologic conditions, with special interest in prostate cancer screening and general urology. Through faculty roles at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, he has mentored and trained many medical students and residents. He has also contributed to the field through multiple publications in respected medical journals.
Dr. Berman often says the most meaningful part of urology is building long-term relationships with patients and their families. “Urology is the perfect combination of medical practice, patient evaluations, regular follow-ups and screenings, with surgical intervention when needed.” His patient satisfaction awards and professional honors reflect his commitment to compassionate care. By combining clinical expertise with teaching, he continues to support strong patient outcomes and help prepare future urologists. Outside of work, Dr. Berman enjoys staying active through sports and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
My patients can expect thoughtful, thorough care backed by my years of experience.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients can expect compassionate care, clear explanations, and support throughout a thorough evaluation.
In return, patients are encouraged to share a complete medical and family history, along with any recent test or imaging results, and to follow through with recommended tests or procedures when needed.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, staying active through sports, and spending time with my family.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I value urology because it allows me to build lasting relationships through regular follow-up care.
One of the greatest rewards of my specialty is caring for multiple generations of families over time.
