Dr. Sumit Tickoo is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. With more than 12 years of extensive experience in treating heart disease, Dr. Tickoo takes a collaborative approach to patient care with a focus on preventative action. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Health - Bridgeport Hospital and his Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship at Danbury Hospital. He received his Interventional Cardiology training with a special focus on complex coronary procedures with the internationally recognized team at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. Tickoo has conducted clinical research and has been published in multiple peer reviewed journals. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with his family.

I collaborate with my patients to provide the best diagnosis and treatment with an emphasis on preventative care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should always expect my full engagement, transparency and a collaborative effort. I expect my patients to feel comfortable and know that they can ask any questions.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I like bikepacking, being informed, chess, golf, traveling and spending time with family.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I have always been fascinated by the physiology of the heart. As a cardiologist, I work with individual patients on treatment plans as well as under emergent circumstances to treat a heart attack.
