I am Dr. Teena Thomas. I am thrilled to embark on my career as a Primary Care Physician following my recent graduation from Danbury Hospital's Internal Medicine Program. Throughout my medical education, I developed a strong passion for providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages. During my residency at Danbury Hospital, I gained invaluable experience managing various medical conditions, from acute illnesses to chronic diseases. I am committed to staying updated with the latest medical research and advancements to ensure I deliver high-quality care to my patients.

Community service has always been important to me, and I have volunteered in healthcare outreach programs throughout my training. I am eager to bring my dedication and knowledge to my practice, focusing on preventive medicine and fostering strong doctor-patient relationships.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending quality time with my family. I am enthusiastic about beginning this new chapter in my career and am dedicated to making a positive impact on the health and well-being of my patients.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?

I approach each patient with empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to improve their well-being. I encourage patients to actively participate in their healthcare by asking questions, seeking clarification, and engaging in shared decision-making regarding treatment options. I value collaborative relationships where we work together to achieve your health goals.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Outside of patient care, I enjoy cooking and exploring new recipes, reading across various genres, and spending quality time with family. Staying active through activities like hiking and yoga keeps me balanced.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose internal medicine because of its comprehensive approach to patient care across a wide spectrum of medical conditions. I am fascinated by the diagnostic challenges it presents and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients. The greatest reward in primary care is the ability to make a significant impact on patients' lives by managing chronic conditions, promoting preventive care, and addressing complex health issues. The trust and gratitude from patients when they experience improved health outcomes are incredibly fulfilling and affirming.
