Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I take the time to review each patient’s unique circumstances and develop a thoughtful and comprehensive plan of care based on the latest medical evidence.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients can expect a thorough assessment of their symptoms and concerns. I believe in a doctor-patient relationship built on honesty and mutual respect, and I strive to partner with patients to achieve successful outcomes.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, traveling, being with family and friends, cooking and barbecuing.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Being a gastroenterologist offers the opportunity to help patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. We can form long-term relationships with our patients. We also can provide immediate benefits through endoscopy and colonoscopy such as treating a bleeding ulcer or preventing colon cancer.

He talks while drawing an eye. He doesn't seem interested, fidgeting with his pen and making marks on the paper. He is not impressed with my laboratory results, but my primary sent me there because he has concerns. I want a new GI doctor to replace Dr. Appel. Thanks
