Uma Medapati, MD

Dr. Medapati is a hospitalist, who is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and she is an associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency program. She believes that each patient's needs are unique and communication with patients and family is key to a successful partnership. Her areas of expertise include diagnosing and managing acute care conditions. She prides herself in teaching residents and working with diversity, equity and inclusion committees. In her free time, Dr. Medapati enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching movies.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
My priority is to provide safe, cost-effective and quality care. I am part of the hospitalist team and work exclusively with residents.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
As a hospitalist, I advocate for your care and coordinate care between all the specialists. I ensure you are informed and participating in your care.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I love to spend time with family and friends.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I enjoy the challenges of acute care. Stabilizing a seriously ill patient in collaboration with an entire team brings me great joy. Educating and working with residents is rewarding.
