Vandana K. Bacon, DO

Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. Bacon completed undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and returned to New England for medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Bacon undertook residency at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, now part of Northwell Health, and stayed for a chief resident year.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I am very focused on providing the best care that I can and individualizing this care based on the needs of my patient and their family. I love educating patients and their families and helping to clarify concepts that may be confusing or anxiety-provoking. I love knowing that my care can create lasting impacts on patients and their families.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
They should expect open communication and attention from me. I expect a similar openness, especially with the passage of time, and willingness to share thoughts and opinions freely. I want to be a sounding board for parents and patients alike and foster long term relationships and continuity between us. I believe that as parents today, we face many difficult challenges, and I hope to help you, and your family, navigate these.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time outside, mostly running although I enjoy hiking. I love spending time with my 2 children and my husband. We like travelling together and exploring new restaurants.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose pediatrics because it really allows you to care for and support your patients at the time of their most rapid growth and development. You are not only caring for your patients but also helping to educate and provide guidance to parents when they are often struggling the most.
