About Vanessa Helena Landegger
Professional Statement
Vanessa Landegger, a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, is a graduate of Yale School of Nursing and a lifelong resident of Connecticut. She is dedicated to empowering her patients as a compassionate, curious and clinically astute provider. She knows the importance of shared decision-making around gynecologic concerns, sexual health, family formation, pregnancy, labor and birth. She adheres to principles of bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. As a midwife, she views pregnancy and birth as normal physiologic processes. She seeks to facilitate her patients’ engagement, education and empowerment throughout the prenatal, intrapartum and post-partum periods. Vanessa’s interests include routine gynecological care, sexual and reproductive health, care of pregnant people during pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period, and evidence-based menopause care. She warmly welcomes all gender identities to her practice and works to ensure an inclusive experience for her patients. She speaks Italian and Dutch and understands French, German and some Spanish. In her free time, she gardens, hikes, cooks and enjoys spending time with her partner and their grown children.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I am a conscientious, prepared and compassionate provider who brings a trauma-informed approach to patient care.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients can expect my full attention and transparent communication. I will come to their visit prepared and familiar with their history and will make the most of our time. I expect them to communicate their concerns and collaborate with me to reach their health goals.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I prioritize self-care in the form of exercise and prepping nutritious food. I also like to garden and see friends and family.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose midwifery because it allows me to apply up-to-date, evidence-based gynecologic and obstetrical care in a person-centered practice. This model of care is necessary to improve maternal experience and outcomes. The greatest reward is when a patient loves their experience with midwifery care and feels seen and empowered.
