Dr. Xiang (Eric) Dong is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive robotic surgery, gastrointestinal malignancies, hepatobiliary diseases and endocrine disorders. Dr. Dong is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and an active member of multiple medical societies. Dr. Dong believes that treatment of complex cancer patients requires a multidisciplinary team of doctors who can offer the most recent and advanced care possible. As an integral member of the cancer treatment team, Dr. Dong believes in utilizing the latest surgical techniques available. Dr. Dong currently resides in Connecticut with his family and enjoys the outdoors.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I love traveling and am in the process of completing a marathon on all seven continents.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Surgical oncology is a field where there are rapidly evolving treatment options available for cancer patients. Advanced surgical techniques are also making patient care safer and more effective.
