Mary Claire T. Abbot, MD

Mary Claire Abbot, MD, practices full-spectrum outpatient Family Medicine, offering care to children, older adults, and pregnant individuals. Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Tailoring evidence-based methods for diagnosis and treatments to individual patients is central to the way I practice medicine personally and as a supervisor to our Family Medicine Residents.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My suggestions and decisions about testing and treatments are based on intense care for all individuals, wanting what is best for their physical and mental health. I hope for patients to collaborate openly in their care.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
My partner, our young son and I like to spend time outside, ideally swimming and picnicking with friends. 

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Family medicine allows for a full understanding of patients, from the details of any illnesses to their family and work lives. I love helping people understand how aspects of their health connect and can be managed to achieve more happiness and peace.
